Hi!

I'm looking for a game to duo with a friend of mine, but he's been having trouble getting MMOs to work. So I looked up this private server and I'm considering it, but I have a few questions.

1) My friend lives in southern Africa. Most MMOs block his IP and he can't get a VPN to work on the Nexon launcher. q.q Does this version of the game block IPs?

2) Do we need the base game or is Pro completely standalone?

3) I saw in Tech FAQ that the 2nd quest was hard to understand because of Japanese. I thought this game was initially Korean but this was based on the English version... Are you saying that this version is based on the Japanese version?

4) This game supposedly goes up to G13, but I thought the whole point was to just be pre-Genesis. Is there a reason why the game doesn't get updated further?

5) You said you add some additional features. Does this include fan requests like Scythe Mastery, flying in Uladh, and giving Elves/Giants all the weapon styles?

6) Is the lag super bad? With that said, the "Loading" version of skills (pre-Gen) is more lag-friendly than the "Cooldown" version (Gen), right? So would lag be a problem?

7) I haven't played Mabi in years and I never got used to the whole blacksmithing deal with refining and everything. Can you give me a short tutorial on using functions like that (fishing, cooking, etc)?

8) Does this version automatically have useful features that mods normally provide, like a way to see CP, Skill CP, etc without having to use mods? I'm playing Vindi right now and its current anti-hack detects any mods used on any games, so I can't use any for this one.

2) So to clarify, we absolutely don't need the Nexon client at all, right?

3-4) Aw... So there's no way to get future content directly? Then is it even worth it to play G13 or just up to G12? Also, I know that the Mabi wiki has the script for those generations; you can use that for reference, though it's nowhere near complete. Is there any reason not to have someone play through Live to get the text?

5) Do you have the additional features I listed? (scythe mastery, flying in Uladh)

7) I'll take you up on that.

8) I know a patcher isn't the same as a mod...but you're sure the NX anti-hack won't detect it?

9) Any changes to Elf/Giant significant enough to know about, like weapons access and marriage?

10) Do you guys have an artist for NPCs? Would be nice if you had custom NPCs, too. xD

11) Can pets do main story? Are there world bosses? How useful is Exploration? What's the "main location" that everyone hangs out in?

12) Lastly, what's seen as the "endgame" for this version, and is there any particular order I should do Gens in (Humans and Elves/Giants)?

Thanks again! ^-^

I was saying that I also play Vindictus, so if a mod has been used for any game, Nexon's anti-cheat will detect it. That's why I wanted to make sure the patcher wouldn't be detected as a mod. I could be careful and make sure it's not running, but I think the new anti-cheat detects program use for 48 hours prior. If it's unknown, I'll just wait to play this until I'm done with Vindi.

So are G13 dungeons the endgame or something else?

Thank you.

I thought Genesis was the reason why it become level-dependent, but I guess that was Alch. In that case, how should I plan my training? Should I just grind super fast to level 200 per rebirth or limit my levels, and how does getting Rebirths work in this version?

What's the point of resetting skills? Doesn't that just decrease CP?

"prof" euipment?

What's the best way to stay at low level? Just grind and not do quests?

--

Oh, is there a way to change resolution before starting the game? I don't see a config file.

1. I think I'll start as an Elf, but my friend is thinking of starting as a Human. I know Humans get the CC quests in Dunbarton, do Elves get tutorial quests like that?

2. Is there any reason to reset after the first time? Do they auto-rank to E on their own?

3. Also, I know I should get Refine done ASAP. Can I just do Refine first before anything else?

4. I'll focus on Weaving after refine for the Dex because I'm going archer. Any tips?

5. Can G7 be done by a Human without doing G1-3?

6. If he happened to choose Giant instead, we would be able to party together in Courcle, right? Is there a way to disable PvP between E and G just in case?

7. I heard that resetting lets you just use AP on the resetted skills without having to train them again. So if I, say, ranked Windmill to 1 and resetted, I wouldn't have to train it again?

8. Which is the best bow in the game right now, and should I focus on using Elven Short Bow? When I make my own through carpentry, will it have better base stats, and when should I make it a spirit weapon - or should I use a different bow for that?

9. Other than Windmill, Counter, and Critical, any other CC skills I'll need as a pure Archer?

10. I might actually use Alchemy as a secondary for things like barrier spikes and golem. Should I put it completely on the backburner until I finish Archery?

11. Again, any Config file or is changing the graphics only possible in-game?

So after doing some research, I found out that G14+ started retconning a lot of stuff, like when Lugh was actually alive, etc. Even Triona was mentioned to have been killed sometime in G13-16 but when is unknown as well as how or why*, and Tarlach's personality went haywire sometime after G16 as well.

There's a lot of inconsistencies and plot holes in the Live version because of the new devs, so perhaps G14+ in this game could be wildly different, filling in plot holes and rewriting characters and events to make more sense based on Oldschool Mabinogi. If this did happen, what events/stories would you all want included?

*With that said, everyone in Emain Macha used to be concerned with Macha's reincarnation, believing some human to realy be her, and in G3 Triona was seen as the medium for Macha's resurrection, which Ruari stopped, yet Macha was alive in Saga, suggesting that Triona may have become her. Knowing that Tieve is the reincarnation of Morrighan in Vindi, and it was said that Tieve and Morrighan's souls "warred" with one another for dominance of their body (Tieve's soul is possibly still in Morrighan during Mabinogi, as Vindi happens before Mabi), it's possible that during the G13-16 gap Triona was successfully turned into Macha and Macha's soul won. Whether this theory is correct or not, it could be an inspiration for an "alternate" Chapter 4 where Triona is featured and a happier ending occurs, even a situation where her soul meets Macha's and her love for Ruari clashes with Macha's broken heart.

(this thread is a draft; please ignore it for now, everything is subject to be changed; thank you)

Some basic ideas, hopefully can be implemented:

- Dark-skinned humans are re-introduced as a new race called Irinid. This is a suggestion that Irinid both refers to the ancient deity of Iria as well as her (human) followers, also suggesting the Courcle Humans were the ones that once inhabited Rano. They are sent to Cor and talk to their chief as well as get their own tutorial quests, but this does not stop them from doing Chapter 1. They're also the only race that can dual-wield axes (rather than swords), ironic since their ancient civilization used them but it's suggested that their use fell out of practice in Courcle and they learned dual axe techniques instead.

- Giants get Final Bash, which is just Final Hit for blunts. Irinid get Final Chop (or Final Hack) which is just Final Hit for axes. These skills make dual-wielding on those races viable.

- Introduced with the Irinid race is Taming, which uses the DK skill code as a basis but then removes the skill from DK.

- Introduced somewhere in this is a new weapon, Wristbow (pic1, pic2) that can only be dual wielded by Elves. They function similar to Crossbows but with less damage, and the dual wield on Elves works more like adding damage rather than having more hits, although it copies the two-arrow thing but instead two-bolt, and that's in addition to MCBs having better attack speed on Elves than crossbows do (other races can't "reload" fast enough to get that bonus or dual wield). It also uses Final Shot.

- Scythe Mastery also introduced, because it needs to be. For all races.

- Fix music plz but no Sing without microphone, or at all.

One massive idea, but would love if it was implemented:

- G4-7 in Pro now refer to new stories. G4-6 is basically the G1-3 for Irinid, Giants, and Elves, but is used separately so that players don't get confused when talking about each story, although both G1-3 and G4-6 are simply refered to as Chapter 1 (Race). G7 now has an expanded beginning that more smoothly transfers from all Chapter 1s.

- Aces are first introduced in these generations (G4-5) now, except for Merlin and Professor J. Starlet (that's her real name) is now a Giant (per picture looks like one), Culinary Expert (who has an actual name now) is an Irinid, and Treasure Hunter (also has a real name, and replaces Yoff) is now a female elf like in the concept picture (which was abandoned in favor of a male human for some reason). Each one is at their humble beginnings, as Starlet is a Giant that loved singing so she researched Giant history for any traces of their old songs, Culinary Expert is a chef that felt held back by the few traditional dishes of his people so he started experimenting with everything (even dangerous ingredients, which got him in trouble), and Treasure Hunter is Yoff (more feminine build), with all of them wanting to learn more about their people and pursue their dreams, which the Milletian helps them with.

- G4 starts off with the player seeing a woman (Nemhainn) looking down at Iria and talking to herself, "They still fight. They have learned nothing; I will not help them when their enemies return." The enemies she's referring to are the dragons. She then perks her head up and turns around, then talks at the screen. "You. You heard me? You're not one of them. What are you?" Then you find yourself on the ground, waking up from a dream, in your starting village. That village's chief says they don't recognize you, but that you seem familiar (which makes the most sense as an elf, some sense as an Irinid, and very, very, little sense as a Giant) and they start introducing you to town. This generation continues in each race's region, outlining the backstory of Iria and each race (as they can remember it) and even events like the Elf vs Giant wars, all while you're going around the region completing tasks for people and learning about things, in addition to trying to figure out the truth about the woman you saw (which most conclude is Irinid).

- G5 starts with a peace conference in Cor between the Giants and Elves, which you were asked by your chief to be one of their bodyguards during it, that fails completely and ends up with declarations of war from both sides to "finish this" completely in Rano, specifically Muyu Desert. The Giant/Elf/Irinid is asked to scout the regions between the site (the Irinid because Cor wants to try to stop them from fighting at the battlefield), and the player ends up fighting the monsters in those areas even more than before. Finally, the Irinid are waiting in the Desert, the Giants in the Prairie, and the Elves in the Forest. They then clash after the Irinid fail to stop them, which the dragons of the surrounding areas are woken up by and, seeing the chance, attack the fighting races all at once; each race has its own dragon to fight (Prairie for Giant, Desert for Irinid, and the new Forest for Elves), and the Beast/Falcon/Paladin transformations are then awakened for the Milletians during the fight when they resonate with glowing pillars from buried temples in that Desert. After being attacked by the dragons, the three races are worn out and each returns home, delaying the battle.

- G6 begins when the Milletian is asked by their chief to investigate those lights and the return of the dragons. The Milletian finds explorers from Port Qilla (which existed prior to this point but was not mentioned/used in the plot) that were attracted by the pillars of light. Together they research that land's secrets but are continuous interfered with, even tricked into hating one another, by a mysterious group (either Cessairs or Fomors) that doesn't want them finding the truth (because they want the races to keep fighting, or stay away from events in Uladh, or both, whichever works). Despite this, Yoff - who had found the Book of the Irinid at a previous time - manages to get a frightened Starlet to use her knowledge of Ancient Giant to read the book which reveals to Culinary that his people were the ones that inhabited that land, and discovers that the Milletian's power was granted by the goddess OF the Irinid (that's where the Cor humans find out their race was called Irinid) to fight the dragons, and reveals the existence of Cromm Cruaich and Irinid's real name (Neamhain) as well as her two sisters, all outlined in the book (which brings the Elf/Giant/Irinid players up to speed a bit for G7).

The Aces still act about the same and still end up in G6 normally regardless of which race the Milletian is, although the interactions will be a bit different depending on race. Additionally, G6 is when the Milletian finds out about ancient secrets of their race even before the Irinid-Dragon war; the Giants had worshiped the Dragons despite their reign being terrifying, and the Cessair can trick the Giant into changing from Beast to Drake; the Elves had their souls bound to phoenixes which granted them immortality, although the dragons wiped the phoenixes out, and the Cessair can trick the Elf into merging with their experimental, artificial phoenix which turns them from Falcon to Phoenix; and the Irinid is tricked into accepting the power of the Dark Knight which the Cessair claims is the "true power" of the Paladin. This is all in an attempt to disconnect the Milletian from Neamhain's "light" which pisses her off so she stops observing and directly interferes in the events, revealing the truth of events to the Milletian and restoring their "light" forms before working with them to stop the Cessair (which will return much later on). The Milletian can then accept a side quest to change into their "dark" form anyway except it's "safe" because Neamhain's "light" will still be with them.

- G7 begins with Meriel (for Giants), Vena (for Elves), Tupai (for Irinid), and Ffion (for Tuatha) asking the player to meet them (tutorial NPCs are now in their respective towns and are of their respective races, which means Vena is now an Elf and Meriel is now a Giant), and they explain that the explorers from Rano have been working with Voight to discover the land's ancient history and they request that the Milletian find the "last artifact" they're looking for which is now hard to get but there's only one each depending on your race (Waterlogged Pieces for Irinid are in Courcle, the other Pieces are now in each racial region in certain areas - Tuatha Stormcharged, etc) but they're broken into different shards across those regions. Talking to one's region's NPCs will result in them reminiscing about the Milletian's previous adventures while giving them hints; once this is done, the pieces are taken to Voight and the story continues mostly like normal.

- Also, Lorna is now the Tuatha Ace but isn't a Milletian; however, she still hears Morrighan and there are new mini-quests spread throughout G1-3 where it's referenced that she tries to do what you do but you always beat her to it, which frustrates her, but she still becomes stronger and during G7-13 she gets tons of experience and becomes one of the Aces, which are now full aces in Pro G14, which Pro Chapter 4 being a condensed alternate timeline alternate fates type situation where Professor J is revealed to have brought the Aces together and certain people don't die, personalities don't change, and historical events aren't retconned. However, Professor J retains his height and appearance all except for his hair/eye/clothing/weapon palette which is now Merlin's pallete.

It's revealed that a hundred or so years ago he was known as Merlin, an impulsive magical talent that caused an accident which forced immortality on himself, Lugh, Ruari, Tarlach, Price, and many other characters during the Tragedy of Emain Macha which was revealed to have happened much earlier, but the spell also caused a memory issue on the city that made them think that it had recently happened, and they're technically frozen in time; he began researching the Shadow World to find a cure for them, but by the present time some of them had left the city completely, like Ruari, Tarlach, and Mari. It's revealed that Mari's family's assassination happened during the Tragedy of Emain Macha, and that her immortality resulted from her being caught in the blast, while Ruari went to get away from the city and find paradise because of the Tragedy; this fixes time-related plotholes, as both Lugh and the Three Warriors supposedly existed in the past (like a while back, like possibly a hundred or so years ago). He's still trying to find a cure but is also helping Shakespeare and gathered the Aces together due to Shakespeare's request during Pro G14.

- Extra: This all helps create a standard for making a new Chapter 4 (actually 4+5) that is less in-your-face to the player, being smoothed into by previous plot and making actual sense, with happy endings happening for the characters. It may also be possible for the Milletian to end up using Tia Fail to become a God (or get the power of one) which would fail because their Demigod power would react and take the power instead, bringing Elatha back to life as a God but destroys Tia Fail in the process (it had a one-time use which is why the Milletian was going to use it to stop Dian from doing so) and also causes a rift that brings a new threat to the world (leading into Chapter 5, which equates to Live's Chapter 6), although the Milletian would somehow still retain their Demigod powers afterward. I was also thinking of it being revealed that it was Lugh that Macha was in love with and Triona is their daughter, but for political reasons he was forced to marry a lady of the court; that lady died during the Tragedy and Lugh eventually turned himself into a Fomor later on which is why everyone though Triona was one; this also explains why Triona would be a good medium for Macha's return since she's her daughter, and it would be a good distraction for Macha if even her daughter wanted Tia Fail to be destroyed.

TL;DR: Q.Q Wall of text. I want Cor Humans, dark-skin on Elves, a unique Chapter 1 for each race which introduces new versions of the Aces, and a smoothed out Chapter 4 and 5 into a single, non-plothole non-retcon chapter.

I have real ADHD, not "here's a pill for you" ADHD. I don't take offense to being called ADHD either, as that's what I am. SJWs take things way overboard. x.x;

I'll think about your guild once I play the game a bit. Sounds nice.

I'm pretty sure I went way, way overboard with this. I think I'll just make a thread for each "part" so it's less, um... In everyone's face. Plus G4 is way simpler than the rest, and easier to bulletpoint.

Also there's a plothole up there about Irinid existing before the Lost Elf incident. Easy fix will be to make her turned into a Lost Elf at the end of G6. I've decided on Lorna being the Combat Specialist / Martial Artist Ace, will go into detail about that much later on. The G5 Elf v Giant war will probably be based on the AIs of that "Protect the armies then summon the dragon" Alch mission. If anyone else finds some plotholes or impossibilities, please let me know.

Based on an earlier thread, this one will outline QoL changes and extra features that will be referred to as "G4" in Pro. These are intended to be released in very, very small patches, with some of them being a light workload.

Part 1 - Beginner Revamp

The following are mini-patches that altogether will revamp the beginner experience. These build upon one another.

A. All races are given all skin, eye, face, tattoo, hair, etc options at creation. This will require a good bit of work, but is essential.

B. Vena's character model is reworked to be that of an Elf (basically ears change, including the portrait). Meriel's character model is now a Giant, but the portrait does not need to change.

C. Forest of Souls is made as large as other tutorial fields.

D. A Tutorial field for Cor Humans is created. Tupai is moved there. Waboka now sells his items instead. The tutorial will, for now, be like Ffion's.

E. Cor Humans, called Irinid, are introduced; the NPCs do not refer to them as Irinid, only Human. Similarly, Uladh Humans are renamed Tuatha, based on Tuatha de Danaan (which is the ethnicity Uladh humans are in the lore). Although canonically Cor Humans are dark-skinned while Uladh Humans are light-skinned, there will be no restrictions for players. Irinid cannot dual wield swords, but they're the only race that can dual wield axes. They can currently choose Paladin or Dark Knight by just speaking to Kousai. There is currently no free card for them, but they can be made as the player's first character. Irinid are officially neutral in the Elf vs Giant conflict and therefore cannot ally with either side, although neither side is hostile to them.

F. The Humans keyword is introduced. Elves can now get a free Tuatha card by speaking to Alexina, a free Irinid card by speaking to Kousai, and a free Giant card by (secretly) speaking to Taunes. Giants can now get a free Tuatha card by speaking to Alexina, a free Irinid card by speaking to Kousai, and a free Elf card by (secretly) speaking to Atrata. Inirid can get a free Tuatha card by speaking to Alexina, a free Giant card by speaking to Krug (alliance not available), and a free Elf card by speaking to Castanea (alliance not available). Additionally, Tuatha can now get a free Irinid card by speaking to Kousai.

G. Wristbows are introduced. They are one-handed crossbows that only humans and elves can equip, and can be used with shields. They can only be dual-wielded by elves, which causes two bolts to be fired at once rather than each wristbow attacking separately. Wristbows having the fastest attack speed of all bows but the lowest damage and lack of stun; they're basically a faster alternative to the more-damaging shortbows.

H. Final Shot now affects wristbows. Giants that dual wield blunts and Irinid that dual wield axes now each get their own Final Hit variant; Final Bash for the former and Final Chop for the latter.

I. All L-Rods are removed from the game. New L-Rods replace them, these being Sand, Snow, Peat, and Dirt. Dirt is basically dead soil, while Peat is like wetland soil, so there are only certain areas in Rano (for the former) and Courcle (for the latter) to use the L-Rods, like with the Sand and Snow L-Rods. Tuatha get the Dirt in tutorial since it is used in Rano, Irinid get Peat L-Rod, Elves get Sand, and Giants get Snow. Rather than the L-Rods only going up or down per L-Rod, there are now 3 L-Rod Actions: Find, Dig, and Pile; all L-Rods can use these Actions, but only on the specified terrain. L-Rods still do not work in Uladh.

J. The tutorials for all races are officially replaced by a singular quest for each race with many, many tasks in it. The tutorial areas have new content, like each having a mount that can be ridden: Horse for Uladh, Ostrich for Rano, Hippo for Courcle, Griffin (grounded) for Connous, and Polar Bear for Giant; these are owned by the Tutorial NPCs and cannot be used outside of the tutorial area. The Crystal Ball is removed and all of the quest material is done through the tutorial NPC, with the Complete part being done at the end of the mega-quest. Campfire, First Aid, etc and an introduction to how crafting works, as well as test dummies and tutorial weapons for learning all basic combat are included. Additionally, the player now knows no skills to begin with, instead being learned during the tutorial or found later in the game. Uladh Humans' CC and Magic quests from Tir are removed due to the new tutorial.

K. After the tutorial, the player will meet the Chief and go to the Second Tutorial where they meet the town residents and learn about keywords, shops, books, etc. At the end, the Chief will talk about skill reset, which can now be done at every chief, and provide any extra keywords needed (though the town NPCs should have done that). All of this is a single quest, like the first tutorial, and all custom text in English.

L. After getting certain achievements (generation completion, titles like Bear at 10, skill ranks, etc), the player can now go back to their Tutorial NPC to get special rewards by entering the relevant keywords (plot keywords, skills, titles, etc). Any players that completed previous tutorials can now go back to the Tutorial NPC and do the new tutorial for extra rewards; it's suggested to have inventory space for the rewards.

M. Nao is revamped. She's now the height that deities are supposed to be. Her dialogue is both more streamlined and more detailed; I'll put this dialogue in another thread. Her items given are also different to fit Pro, and new characters now get beginner clothes themed to their race. She mentions that the player is being sent to fellow Milletians that will help them out, certifying the Tutorial NPCs as Milletians.

Rezilia. Been playing MMOs for over a decade, and been in Mabi since atleast its 2nd anniversary. I wanted to find a game to duo with a friend of mine but every MMO blocks his nation's IP. I saw Mabi in its terrible state and looked up a private server just to see, and here I am.

Nice to meet you all.
