There's already a document made by Uzume regarding the A1 changes that goes over most additions to the game from A1 (save from loot) so that'd help whoever does it.

But yeah, I'd agree that a thread that goes over all additions/changes (like the differences in loot in alby normal/rundal adv hm/rabbie adv 2, fiodh int 2, some big fieldbosses and mission additions and so on) would help out anyone who joined. Very often the question is asked still about people not knowing the new content which could be remedied by having it available... somewhere without having to ask.

Oh, the slate of twisting caverns also only gives 1 prot instead of the 2 it lists.

I certainly think A1S2 does not change the feel and only expands the world we get to play in while maintaining the same core mechanics and approach to the game.

The main thing is that it isn't making anything obsolete and it is not by any means exclusive. The cave raid and the spiral hill boss both strictly encourage community involvement with the way the reward distribution works. In our cave runs we have pulled in so many members from the community because it can only help, and why wouldn't we involve other people when we can.

Well, most new content has made old content obsolete or changed core aspects of the original mabi. Few examples are how rafting/exploring around cor for explo xp is basically dead due to the new explo level locations, certain items/enchants introduced has made old locations where they come from/inferior versions come from obsolete. Cypress from the swamps is a good example although there are many more, used to be 1m, almost pretty much auction only as metus was hard as balls (even though I got one cypress from there), now its worth like 200-300k and NO1 buys from auction anymore.

I'm not saying these changes are bad per se, but it is very subjective whether they are:
1. good
2. should happen on a g13 server that's supposed to be ''old school''

And my personal opinion is that most changes have been good and should have happened (albeit some are questionable like how easy the dungeon is where cypress comes from and how often it drops). Although this opinion can differ for others, since I personally do not care for the ''old school'' besides retaining the old combat system perhaps. All I care about is a balanced mabi that's fun to play, and that doesn't involve P2W reforges/buying tons of OP sleep/heal/stun pets etc. (and a mabi where I have decentish ping), which is why live sucks and why I prefer this server much more. I personally welcome most additions live had, as long as they are balanced. If the GMs could magically take some of the skills from live and tune their power to be in line with what we have right now I'd be down for it for example.

That desert dragon spawn information is incorrect, since it spawns on those mountains here at a different mark than sheep mark (sun mark? forgot which 1 it was). That info you got from archive.org is probably from after it was changed.

I agree with a increase of the cap would be a good addition. Although what Drahan mentions is a valid concern, considering how the curve increases up to 25 (and would keep increasing after 25) I don't think people will be going further than something like level 30. 5 levels wouldn't give a significant enough stat boost to be problematic i'd say.

I mainly think it's just a nice addition for people who play a lot of the custom content and reach their explo lvl cap, so that it doesn't feel like you are wasting xp since you hit cap. People who really care about ap/stats/leveling etc. would most likely not wanna go much further than explo 25 anyways and probably just go a bit further perhaps, since at that point it is most likely easier/more time efficient to get normal levels elsewhere (unless they are already like level 120+) than getting exploration levels.

Raccoon cub/jackal step up enchanting have already been made easier though with the introduction of the deep caverns (and cp gear in general tbh, content additions/events have added a whole lot of custom enchanted cp items you can burn or just use straight up like the jackal broad stick). I personally think it's fine we at least keep some things that we have to keep stepping up enchants for.

Just want to throw out that human does have 1 thing that you could say is part of being ''jack of all trades'' that is favorable for them and that is having dual wield options that boost both high crit and high damage.

Giants have stronger WM and stronger smash than humans, but only one of them with a specific equip. Dual wield giant wins in WM damage (but not by much really due to the recent dragon sword addition) due to their iron mace ego but sacrifices the ability to crit smash in high level content since their crit tanks because of it. A giant using 2h sword + enchanted shield will win in smash damage (since they can reach enough crit without sacrificing too much damage in return) thanks to the 2h multiplier for smash, but still not by too much really since dual wielding does have quite a bit more damage still due to how both weapons affect the skill, it just doesn't have the bigger multiplier which is more noticeable with higher base damage (aka for endgame players).

If giants didn't have the advantage of having a charge that can at least do some damage (because human charge hits like a wet noodle) and the ability to charge without shield, I'd personally say that going human would most of the time be the better choice compared to giants, since although giants can dish out more damage with one of the two main damage dealing melee skills of their choice, humans can do both very well with one set of weapons and I personally don't think having human archery is something that doesn't amount to adding nothing of value to the race (yes its inferior to elves, but not to the point of irrelevance).

That being said, I agree that current hybrid weapons aren't weapons made for min-maxing, since you sacrifice too much for minor additions. They are more something to have fun with, or possibly run at lower content or something. As far as I know some people do like rapiers, but mainly due to the fact that they are cost efficient weapons that are decent at spamming bolts.

How the event works

The questions in the quiz will be about various topics associated with Mabinogi, MabiPro and the people involved with the server. We will be gathering in the tara banquet hall after the start of banquet. Once the event starts, me (Excelsian) and Uzume will be giving everyone questions that they have to correctly answer. These questions can vary from topics surrounding locations in Mabinogi, knowledge about the story, NPCs in the world of erinn, questions related to items and gear or math questions involving combat scenarios. The difficulty of these questions can vary heavily per question. We know that many of the answers are likely to be present on the mabinogi wiki/google, so there won't be any rule regarding the use of any external sources (not that we would be in any position to prevent/check any use of such sources). All we can say is that speed is important in this contest and that people that actually know the answers themselves will likely be first to answer, and if not, those who are fastest at searching info.

How the prizes work

Now for how to actually win in this event and how to get prices. When me or Uzume gives the question in general chat, everyone is allowed to give answers. You are allowed to be wrong, and try again as many times as you want. The first person to give us the correct answer, will get 2 points. The second person to give the correct answer will get 1 point. We will not be confirming any correct answer until two people have mentioned the correct answer, after which we will reveal the correct answer and confirm who were first and second. We will keep track of who has earned how many points up until the last question. After the last question, we will be revealing the ranking list, which will determine in what order people are allowed to choose any single prize from the list of prizes. So the person with the most points will be allowed to be the first to choose any prize from the list, after him comes 2nd place and so forth.

List of prizes will be (click on the links to check out item stats, dura and so on):
50 red coins (will be handing this out twice)

The full reward list is now available, click on the links to check out the stats/dura etc. of the items.

if there will be around 100 people i don't think i will stand a chance

I don't think there will be anywhere near a 100 people present Dalvurk XD.

Also, there is rewards for 26 people, which I think will be more than the amount of people that will show up.

If adding them to a destiny is possible, how about adding them to the adventurer destiny (the no destiny option).

With 24 questions, 18 winners who scored points and 3 people who didn't score any points but won participation rewards for staying until the very end, the amount of people that showed up was amazing, thank you everyone who participated!

Special thanks to GM Flipend0 for creating a beautiful elevated platform with barricades for me and Uzuu, and helping out by summoning all prize winners 1 by 1 to the platform, it was a great help!

Untill the next event everyone!

(we also send 9 people that were present in the screenshots but didn't get anything during/after the event a small participation reward, be sure to check your mailbox).

I just want to say that the new content is awesome. It's cool to have a g12 style mission but then be able to do it with a party. Although Nuadha can sometimes be uncooperative and delay the fight, it's cool that they were able to replicate the g12 sequence of event, sprinkled in with extra objectives you have to do during the fight. But what I really like about it are the new combat mechanics I've never seen before.

There is two new mechanics which really made the fight feel more than just kill the objective while making sure you don't get hit by their few skills. It's the sealing crystals mechanic and the golden Aonbharrs. It really makes it feel more like a fight you'd find in other MMORPGS where there is other mechanics you have to deal with during the fight or else you get punished/straight up lose. It has never happened to me (and never will) but I heard from others that if you don't kill the sealing crystals in time, you lose the fight, making you have to pay attention to when they spawn and focus them down quick. Only downside with how it is implemented in the fallen king mission is that the timer/hp pool on the crystal is much too lenient, but the general idea of a DPS check and forcing you to work together and break the crystals in time is amazing, and it would be nice to see similar mechanics in other big boss fights.

Then there is the golden Aonbharrs, with the small white crystal in the middle. After roughly 10 seconds they charge towards the little crystal dealing huge damage to anyone, unless you kill it quick enough when it spawns. This means you have to either make sure you are in a safe spot, or kill the crystal quick enough. Again, I really like the idea and the implementation is very good (maybe the Aonbharrs could cover a bit more ground, there is a fair amount of space in between them to dodge and of course all the space behind them, making killing the crystal not as important but still nice to be save).

Besides this, the general theme and setup of the whole ordeal (ignoring the hunt for passes) is nice, and the flavor text inside when you do the secret objectives is also a nice touch. Also something significant I really like is the fact it is a new secret mission, I've mentioned it before in discord and IG that new secret missions would be awesome, since they reward you for being prepared, performing well and coordinating well with your team, making healing useful and giving real difficulty since you have to avoid dying, using items etc. instead of artificial difficulty with unfair combat situations and super beefed up mobs with stupid attributes (looking at you peaca int). So yeah, overall running the mission is cool, hope to see inspiration elsewhere or similar content (especially secret missions).

Endgame giants will win from humans in windmill damage with dual wield since their ego is retarded when it comes to max damage (but they can't smash well with dual wield since you can't crit well with dual wield), and even before the smash buff, they had highest smash damage if they switched weapons to HLC + shield, since they can wear a 2h weapon with shield, and having both enchanted with dmg enchants (combined with the 2h smash damage bonus, the buffed giant smash bonus they not have, and a 10 point smash set you should try to get in the endgame) will make giant smash beat humans by far. An upside for humans is that they can both smash + WM with one weapon set, their dual wield since it sports good damage and crit.

Only if you compare giants with humans who infinite DK I'd say you can call humans stronger in terms of melee, but even then, although they definitely will beat their WM damage, i'm not sure if they'd be able to beat a giant his smash damage. But, to use infinite DK, you have to pay your royalties for your privileges to the local healer house, about 56k per hour if I recall correctly just to counteract your draining HP + sacrifice your inventory to be filled with pots.
