It didn't impact the balance that way on live, so, no. Magic is still an enormous AP investment and currently feels extremely limited in what you're allowed to do with it, compared to any other skill set in the game - removing evaporation would help bring it more up to speed with other things, as it's pretty behind on usability right now. Keeping up a potion supply, bad Meditation, wand evaporation, astronomical wand repair costs, inaccessibility of staves, the challenge of unlocking the powerful spells in the first place... being a mage right now is an extreme hassle even if you're committed to it. And you have to be if you want it to be useful. Putting up with all those things, I'm still immediately outclassed by the first person to walk up with r1 windmill. (Yes, the training is a pain, but does it have all that upkeep? Heck no.)

Because any other class can freely switch out their weapons without demolishing their skill usage capability. I'm sure other classes wouldn't like losing all their stamina whenever they swap weapons. Want to switch from your water cylinder to clay, in order to summon a golem? No way, drink pots. Want to switch your bow for a sword because this enemy pings range? Too bad, drink pots. Did I mention you can't buy those pots in stores now either? That's what other skill sets would look like if the field was evened out with mages.

I could live with evaporation a little more easily with those other fixes in place, yeah. Inspiration could help counteract it in that situation.

Good to hear from yet another masochist who likes to tear other people's experience down based on "I had to do it, so you should have to do it." I played before free rebirth existed, should we bring that back? Let's get rid of elves and giants, too - they're unsightly. Let's go back to medieval times and corporal punishment while we're at it. Somebody had to do it, you should too.

+1 to the summon capsules idea, even if the price goes up a tiny bit. It's needless segmentation of the playerbase when you can't summon your friend because they're a giant.

I'm not sure if we have the "alternate wand" egos implemented either, like Phoenix Fire for instance. I'd also kill for an egoable Trinity or other staff, but those aren't even in circulation anyway, nor do they have precedent on Live Mabi.

Also, ego Solunas kthx

You're aware that there are consumables that prevent mana evaporation right??? up to 300 points (come in groups of 100, 200, or 300 mana saved) just for keeping a stack or two in your inventory for those times you need to quickly switch weapons. It's not something you do constantly. The 100 and 200 stones aren't even that hard to make.

I disagree, these are a definite annoyance to make. They rely on MP potions and colored gems which need to be hunted down, and the latter of which can't be stacked. You also can't auto-craft them at all, and they fail often.

This is client side, or at least was at some point. I've seen mods that do this. Not sure if it's possible in this version of the game or not though, or how the GMs would feel about this type of "grey area" mod.

There's no need for behavior that looks down on other users with such negative language. Not everyone has a ton of experience with modding. If you don't want to do it, tell people how to do it or feel free to stay out of it. This attitude has *always* been a problem with modding, I feel.

What if wands could be off-handed, like a shield? I haven't heard anybody suggest that yet, and it'd enable a certain amount of hybridization (hold a wand with a sword, or a cylinder) while not necessarily needing to address the evaporation issue. You're also giving up the defense of a shield in order to do it.

I mean, I still think evaporation would be best removed, but this would be more fun in some ways than just that and create some interesting levels of choice if it still existed.

I honestly don't have the energy to list the several ways that post was responding to a straw man that doesn't exist, rather than to what I actually said - in response to the single post I was replying to, not to your entire posting career. However, the tips are very helpful, thank you.

You can disagree without being hostile and elitist, thanks.
For the record, I think most of these ideas are interesting with the exception of making skill training too easy. (Except for some life skills.)

Players of many different viewpoints are present on this server, and the divide must be respected, not attacked. Do not attempt to chase off people who "aren't hardcore enough for you." I was one of the early adopters and I joined for the sake of being free of Nexon and having a better balanced and more fun and cohesive game, with the possibility of expanding it in the future. This was the approach initially taken by the dev team with every step they made (the rates, Shyla, events, custom content), NOT that of preserving every detail like a museum piece, including every irritating punishing bit. It's beginning to get real political so don't be surprised when some of us stand up for the original direction of what was happening. I am starting to get to the point where it feels like the server's population believes in two entirely different purposes for this place.

So, in the future, if you disagree with someone's suggestion post, ignore it. Or use the poll they literally set up for you to click "no" on. Do not verbally attack them. Thanks! Some of these suggestions were quite popular when the server started in fact, such as improving dungeon end chests and making them more interesting.

That part was mostly in reference to the post before yours. The part related to yours is the "what the server is meant to be" piece.

Sorry about that. I'm just getting exhausted with a select few vocal players who keep biting newbies' heads off when they suggest convenience features. It was runoff from that. T.T

As far as the master wands/staves go: one of the key features about Mabinogi is player choice, and I'd find it problematic to force high level players to all use the same wand or staff and especially title, the same way I find it problematic that staves are currently so inaccessible in the first place and many wands are unavailable as well.

I do think "CAN equip x title" is a good condition, rather than "IS equipped with x title" though!

Teleportation could be a Demigod skill, since it evokes Morrighan anyway. Bang, balanced.

Please consider including equipment bonuses on some of these items, if possible! It makes things uninteresting when sets with those effects always have to be exactly the same or close to it.

Requiring 75% to vote yes on any given item creates a huge bias in favor of the "no" segment of the player base, whereas a simple majority vote would be far more representative of all players. As it stands, a large chunk of "yes" votes are basically invalidated. It would also help prevent the vote from being spoiled by the segment of players who vote in competitive interest or to drag down other players, as every vote would matter more strongly instead of being a threshold that can be defeated by 26%.

(Alternately, if by chance this was done as a way to focus development time only on the most desired things, it would be wonderful to consider returning to implement the lower priority 60-74 range items further down the road when the more highly requested suggestions have already been dealt with, or when they're very easy changes.)

There is a reason certain decisions (Rabbie) were not present in the polls, and with my idea I wasn't talking about them whatsoever. I'm speaking only and specifically of the questions the GMs decide belong in a poll in the first place. These are the things they aren't sure about implementing, or think the player base could be divided about in a way that isn't purely exploitative.

I also do not believe questions related to specific skill sets should be present in polls unless they are changed to majority, because some players who don't play that skill set are far more likely to vote no on something supporting them, simply because they don't give a crap and don't like seeing others get nice things if they aren't going to benefit too. This is what happened in many cases with the Mystic Pearl question, which was allowed to be defeated by a very low percentage of players, most of which do not use alchemy or Life Drain.

(If this change took place, wings would still have lost. That's a good example of a feature that the playerbase clearly said no to.)
