Hey, I'm a new user here and I'm trying to get started on G1, I'm currently on delivering the bear some mana herbs to get the keyword Tarlach but I don't have any. So my solution was to just make an herb pig but I'm not certain how we can create new pets. Can anyone help?

Just run alby a few times, they drop in the end chest.

to do this, i'd want a balance set on price, and it would have to take potion making into careful consideration. I've intentionally got some ranks in that skill, for reasons like this. Making pots more easily available creates competition for those who would sell pots they've made.

You'd have to careefully balance the price, with availability of pots for one who's determined to get them as a drop, with herbalism, and with the overall damage of magic. Cuz int magic is just pure cc during this generation, beyond melee and archery, and end game alchemy i assume. Atm, i'm going to say no, just cuz i don't see enough details to satisfy me this would be comfortably implemented.

heavy armor with ping that elves can wear? i was always under the impression that was kind of broken on live?? elves never had ping before live mabi's dramatic descent into hell and still shouldn't in my opinion

if you're going to add heavy armor for elves, at least add dragonscale armor instead, which doesn't have ping and comes in both genders. adding just colossus armor (m only) is pretty lame if you ask me. equality or no heavy armor at all plz

While we plan to add the item, plans for distribution of the item is certainly unknown. The entire team has to suggest how should the item to be distributed, should we edit anything about it, or just not distribute it at all.

I honestly just picked it because the armor looks cool. But we are aware of the quality of balance and would like to keep it keen when it comes to that

I'd also like to call into question, when making considerations, that we are nowhere near as tanky on this version. I mean, mana shield will be what you use to absorb dmg. Yeah, if you ping, you'll absorb 50% of the damage of what you pinged, but without dynamic combat that's still extremely dangerous. I don't think this would make as big a difference as some fear it would. But, without seeing someone trying to intentionally abuse it, i couldn't say for certain.

It'd help, if the no votes were requested to give a reason. I mean, some people are against change, and will vote no literally for that reason alone. Others vote no, just because they're impartial and/or their friend requested them to. There will be no good reason for some no votes.

Reasoning and numbers casting votes, say 10 voters vs 1,000, should have the votes more carefully considered, as 25% of 1,000 wouldn't be that hard to see no on. It'd help to see some votes on the forums honestly, as we could make posts supporting or opposing, which may help sway others to our viewpoint. Not to mention that we don't have to worry about being able to get on the game to cast a vote, can just read and go.

Question has come up a few times. Response is yes, non game breaking mods are allowed. If you're concerned they may upset the balance of the game, or get you in trouble, i would encourage you to stop use of the mod, send a ticket to the staff with details about the mod, and ask whether they believe it's okay to use. I have only seen one such mod myself so far, that fall in this category though.

True, it is, but look at official? currently(its becoming less of a trend now, but the stupid reasoning is still there) a player with Wings is a player with status, that knows the game.(this is to most of the dumbfucks that still play on official btw, not everyone thinks like this, Im aware of that.)

I'm curious, what do you define as 'a player with status, that knows the game?' Cuz i was easily able to solo MA tournament, without being hit. I never once had wings, nor did i want them as i found them to be ugly most the time. They didn't suit my character, and i wasn't interested in completely changing my style to look decent with a pair of wings. Most the people i associated with were the same.

As for vanity, or end game, that's always gonna exist. If it's not wings, there'll be something else considered rare and desirable. I mean, if someone wants to get a style that goes well with wings, and actually gets the wings, good for them. If they don't want to get a style suitable to their wings, they can just look ugly with wings. Either way, doesn't affect me, as most people who wear them, only think they look good.

Not to say I'm shitting on the collective of other players in general, but I do see a lot of what I consider to be very questionable opinions and ideas at best, and there are a lot of things that need to be heavily considered before it's left up to just a poll.

But sometimes this is exactly what needs done. For example, a person who is only playing as giant, and never done human or elf, has no business saying what changes should be done to range, unless it only applies to mobs. Similarly, there are plenty of people who are only familiar with one style of combat, and aren't a bit interested in the intricacies and true potential of much of anything. Yet, they will still vote in polls, in a way they think benefits them or their friends, regardless of what kind of impact it may have.

I think calling into question people's reason, looking for an open discussion on a subject, should be important to the growth of the game, and implementation of ideas. There are some matters i'm sure the staff, or flip, are dead set must be done. I'm sure the rabbie and SCC changes were such. And, while i may not like it, i do understand that; it's their game, they work on it, so while they may cater to us, ultimately it is their decision on whether something gets changed or not. But, on the same note, if we get staff who don't know very much about an aspect of the game or skill, i don't want them tinkering too much with it, because... well i'm sure most everyone's familiar with sabina and how she 'doesn't know what she's doing really' when she played, it's not an appealing thought.

As it stands right now, Melee is able to easily buy and spam stam potions so they're able to use skills more often than usual, Magic has been thrown in the mud and stomped on for the entirety of this servers lifetime. We get Mana Evaporation, I don't see Melee losing stam when they switch their weapon, same with Alchemy. It's almost impossible to enjoy this game when I can't even do simple bolt spells without having to farm for Mana pots while Melee simply purchases stam pots and is ready to go. I voted for yes because I hate seeing one class have the upper hand against another.

That's somewhat one sided. You say upper hand, but you're not pointing out the strengths and weaknesses of different classes. Yes, magic has mana evaporation, pathetic recovery rate, and has to pretty much rely on pots. No, how it works is not the same as the other classes really. Bolts are cheaper, but in return specialize in single target. Int magic is meant for multiple target, and not set up to just spam on a single target, in return longer cast times and heavier mp drain. I mean, let a mage charge fireball before opening a chest in a dungeon, now compare his damage to a windmiller. The difference should be obvious. Mage, while it may be slower at preparing and heavier on draining, is just better crowd control for the most part. Thunder has insane stun at r1, ice spear has the shatter effect, and fireball is massive area and high damage potential.

There's also the matter of each spell is an element, and there are enemies who are strong or weak against different elements, letting you play this to your advantage, even if not a game changer. Yes, melee and archery can apply elementals to their gear, but say they have all ice and go in a Theatre Mission. If they find ice spiders, they're gonna have a difficult time clearing without taking off pretty much everything but their weapons, or unless they have multiple elemental types on them, able to change at a moment's notice. And in return, they take a hit that much harder as well.

Point should be clear enough without going too much into archery, or even alchemy. The strengths and weaknesses of each needs to be considered before making a change. Having easy access to mp pots, pretty much everyone would be mage in a few months just cuz it'd be the best room clearer, and the only notable drawback, after you're able to keep a steady income of gold, would be mana evaporation, which won't be a big deal if you keep pots and are doing mostly mage, and cast times. I've seen it on live, i've done it on live. Never considered myself a mage, but as updates introduce new skills and change old one some, i'll branch into those skills for stats or test their effectiveness in different situations, then use the skills when i feel they're efficient. Which, after magic renovation, led to me using magic for most everything, despite the fact i didn't build up with the intent of being mage, it just kinda happened.

You say mages wouldn't have as much expenses, but you don't realize that if you put MP30s in shops, you are adding extra expenses anyways. My Firebolt costs 7 mana a charge. With chaincast, it becomes more. One MP30 is good for 3 bolts, and sometimes that's not even enough to take an enemy out. A Stam 30 is far better for melee cause their skills use less stamina for more damage output. 2 stam for a double basic with dual weild? Meanwhile Magic has to use 5-8 mana for one attack, and that does about 100-200 damage single target. Meanwhile a warrior can expend about 7 stam to load wm and deal 400+ to all enemies around them in a sizable radius.

You really think MP30s are going to impact anything? An entire stack of them would fill my mana bar from empty to full, and I run through that mana just as quickly. All you are doing is making me toss more money than buying the 50s or 100s from players. You can add em, but in the long run, probably won't help

I'm not talking short term. I'm talking about the difficult dungeons and long term. Magic has more of an impact in those scenarios. And again, when you get a steady income of gold, easy access to the pots means gold isn't a concern, and you'll just abuse the crap outta it in high end areas, because the cost won't be a factor. And, repeating myself even more, i'm speaking from experience. I've seen this on live, i've done this on live.

I'm sure we'll see people dedicated to selling pots, but as they get them regularly, sell them regularly, they'll start getting regular customers as well. It'll become more of a chore for them to keep up with the demand, without a lot of other potion suppliers out there. It'll hit the point where people will want to balance the efficiency and price of npc pots, with player sold ones for a while, before the market breaks enough that the pots sold by players will become more desirable.

And if you want to look at the effects of short term to long term, the actual range of that time, then what do you think is going to happen when people who can afford pots at say, 10k/stack for mp 30's, grind the living daylights outta magic using those, and then we see things changes in the future? Maybe pots are cheaper, because players are supplying loads of mp pots in the future, so npc ones need rebalanced. Maybe they're made more expensive or removed, because of being abused to quickly train magic with little to no effort. Playerbase won't respond well to either of those, because the ones yet to train magic, even in the process of training it, or use them to clear difficult areas, will either want their money back, or feel entitled because people abused the pots before and they want to abuse them now, 'in the sense of fairness.'

I think it'd be better to heavily criticize the magic skills, and give them honest rebalances rather than adding mp pots to the shop. We may run into similar complaints from players, but i think it'd be more beneficial to the community as a whole, than simply having easily accessible pots.

Not to sound like a douche but...

Instead of wearing something as valuable as a limited time item, don't wear it "while doing nothing." I mean, I wear my Popo's Skirt when I'm busy cleaning up the house or busy doing part time jobs in-game. Now if I was out dungeoning and/or killing some formors, then I wear my Tioz's Armor. If I want to wear something that isn't repairable and I'm idle, then I wouldn't wear it.
I mean, I understand (ish) the whole balancing things out and all, but just take the advice of, "if you're not going to wear it, don't tear it."

Idk if it will be an issue on this server, but on live you'd see some event items, or sets even, (without effects) that were non-repairable. The first boatswain pirate set for example, i got and liked, non-repairable, and think it was only ever released at one other time in the game's life. I'd like to just show off some items, but over time they will wear down, especially if you want to wear them in combat and take a few hits while wearing them.

Lycoris got you covered.

As he/she said, xml files will mostly be incompatible, ie expect crashes, and tiara has plenty of those.
If you want more than those features at some point, i would encourage you looking into satori's mods as well, as a starting point.

I don't see mana evaporation as balance. Just an annoying feature that is just another reason to avoid magic, particularly early on as a giant. If you want balance, readjust mp usage by the actual spell, adjust cast times, adjust stun times, adjust damage, and/or even adjust area of effect. Mana evaporation may currently be an acceptable reason to keep from properly reviewing magic rebalancing, but balance is what i've been hoping to see in this game, even if it takes time. So properly changing the spells themselves would be an appropriate reason to get rid of evaporation and keeping the 'balance' that people claim it introduces.

Yes, envelopes are trash atm.

Buff possibility? I'd consider it, but i personally refuse to back it without an understanding of the general workings of it. Leading with a comparison of mario and starman, not a good example. Starman A, makes you invincible and B, is placed in preset locations in specific areas, effectively controlling the destruction you can do since it will time out. (old mario) That also sums up my concern with buffing us, some areas could majorly buff the player before the benefit is honestly useful (last floor of peaca int anyone?) while others you wouldn't benefit much at all from a buff, and players would again feel the reward is useless. Give me +999 min/max in alby normal, just an example, i won't truly be killing faster as i can already kill everything there fast already.

Personally, i'd just put the envelopes only in reward chests, at the end of a SM or dungeon. At that point, i mean it's part of your reward. As such, i'd up the reward for doing said quest, significantly. Maybe revamp the requirements to clear all quests, while balancing the reward equally. Say if you had to kill 10 goblins for 5k gold, up that to 30 goblins for maybe 10k gold, similar effect to xp. That or trade off the xp/gold reward, for say a consumable item. Dungeons give pots, SMs can give unique crystals like Life Drain or Summon Golem. Anyway, general thought process that i have should have gotten across on that, so i'll stop there as i'm not trying to fully flesh it out.

Seeing the envelopes get changed into something useful, would be nice. I'm not sure how much time our staff's spent on adding and tweaking them, but i know someone did seem happy to get them working. So i really would like to see them become something that everyone enjoys.

If the timer were to be removed though, i'd have to thoroughly insist on raising the price of each pet no less than 5x its current. As it stands, i think it would honestly be good to reduce red coin drop rate and possibly up the prices a bit.

Coins are ridiculously easy to obtain, and the only time you normally keep pets out to the expiration limit is when you're training the pet, doing generations, or doing exploration in an area with the chests/artifacts spread way the flip out. And you normally only do that last one, for something like a skill book, so it's usually limited to one or two days out of a week, to obtain the book and then you're done with it. Generations and even pet training are similarly restricted, in that you do them basically one time, or for a set period of time, and you're done. So running out of time shouldn't normally be an issue unless you're going to try to afk with your pet out. (i've done that a time or two on live unintentionally)

Do remember you can use your pet to watch your personal shop.

Oh yeah, i did forget you can do that. I've never used anything but the brownie, cuz i can safely afk as well as being reusable until the timer expires.

I just play casually as my time and my net allows

Found this server cuz... well i actually made mention on a site that i had given up on mabi and i would consider looking into unofficial servers after a month or two. Was in no rush cuz trying to understand nexon antics is like hurting yourself, and i just naturally associated mabi with nexon, 1+1. Someone saw my post, and pm'ed me on discord. Gave me a link to the site and, basically, just said i could check it out. And i've reached the point i'm at now, thanks to communicating with staff and users here.

Tailoring the envelope specifically for a dungeon, i doubt would be easy. I mean look at pass drops, whether elite SMs or dungeons. They drop specific passes, but each pass has their own item id. While i did bring up the possibility, i would expect that to implement making envelopes unique to each dungeon or even region, would require adding multiple red envelopes, giving them all unique IDs, so that when the player opens them they get something relative to their location. An easier to understand description would be to think of it as a different color envelope, or maybe a lettered/numbered envelope, for each reward chest. Ciar=green, ciar basic=yellow, and ciar adv=brown. So yeah, if not complicated, still time consuming.

As for travelling to say ciar for 20k gold, from fiodh, i mean it'd depend on the individual and what they're doing/how desperate they are. As someone who has spent the whole game broke, yeah that's appealing to me. Whether i go to ciar or barri, probably ciar for the herbs, i'll look for a reason to go there and do it. As for forming a party, i don't actually need to take anyone with me. I can throw a party up on the party board, set exp rule all to finish, and just announce that i am doing an envelope PQ for someone to leech off of, they can join the party for free xp/gold while they do their own thing and i can take my own time doing the PQ. Win/win since no one goes out of their way to help, and i get the stuff i need just as easily.

The problem with just random boosts, say 2x xp, drop rate, or anything like that is in that suddenly your priorities can change. If i'm running say a generation for someone, i'll stay to finish it for them. If i'm running say ciar basic, rabbie basic, or something else with an easy to get pass, i'll likely bail if i want to make use of my potion. It may be rude, but the fact i think of this, means plenty of others will, and in time it will be the norm. Moreover, if the buffs are even semi-common, i can just run alby or ciar beginner, quick and easy dungeons, to get the buff i want. I'll already have a pass for what i want to run with the buff, ready, or i'll have an unlimited pass just to take advantage of the buff. Then i can just use a waxen wing to warp to wherever i wanted to take my buff, and profit.

If there's anything you learn from playing mabi, it's how stingy and selfish people can be, even when there's not even a point to it. So i would ask you to weigh again the significance of certain drops, consider tailoring the rewards for an area/difficulty even if it is just possibly removing a buff, and consider carefully how it might be exploited by players, possibly at the cost of others such as leaving them unable to complete a dungeon because a player feels their time better spent elsewhere. This is one of the reasons i suggest making the envelopes end chest only, as that would help counteract any negative effect on a party.
