Art sub-forum... meh. I mean, i'd like to see art, sure. A sub-forum would be useful if we see a lotta individuals sharing art. However, i feel at the moment that we have a low enough count of individuals that would contribute, a sticky thread would be fine for a compilation.

In interest of organization and finding a specific member's art though, i would strongly encourage anyone who contributes, to actually edit all their work into one post in the thread. May sound odd, but when someone wants to follow a specific individual's art in this case, everyone posting in a single thread, being able to know where to look and always going to the same spot is a great help. Especially for person B who joins, say a year after person A starts doing their art. Rather than dig through an entire thread, person b will see person a's art in one spot and just like that they know they've not missed anything or have to flip through say 50 pages trying to find everything.

I think over time, it would be worth bringing this topic up again. As more people join, or simply as more art gets shown off than what we could expect over say a course of the next month. Long term, i do see an art sub-forum as possibly a nice thing to have, i just simply think it's something that'd be better handled and more used, after a bit more time has passed.

How about opening an art shop for in-game gold/paypal? Would that be okay with the GMs?
For gold sure, I don't see a problem with that.
For actual money, you should consider handling that outside of here offsite, because that is a bit risky.

I've been curious about such lately. You say 'consider handling that offsite,' i'm going to interpret that as a very insistent 'don't do such matters here.'

And on that note, art for money, can i assume that as these dealings will be between players, so till will any results that come of it? Meaning if someone gets ripped off, the GMs won't intervene? I'll state my opinion on that now, in that i'm of a mind that risk and reward. Sucks to be ripped off, but you should always expect that chance to exist, and while having someone willing to take disciplinary measure against the offending party, the one at risk should always be ready and accepting of such risk, even if they won't just sit happily by when it happens.


Reason for inquiry on this matter, primarily wondering how rl cash and in-game to other means of payment, will be viewed by staff. Though, if this should be its own conversation, or in a ticket, let me know and i'll place such interests elsewhere.

More inquiry on the future rule change. If anyone already has more than 3 accounts, or does by time the change is put in place, will any of their accounts be at risk? Example, will some of them be removed from the database?

http://mabinogi.ir/patch/208_to_209.zip does work, so i assume you can just replace the versions with what you need though. Just figured i'd point out that you have to know specifically what you need to patch, unless i'm doing it wrong.

My situation; had mabi pro installed on a computer properly, computer went kaput. I pulled the hard drive temporarily to get my crap off it, including mabi pro, then replaced the hard drive in the kaput pc and shipped it off, it was replaced. Moved my mabi pro into a different directory on the new pc. Checked the site, found a new launcher is available and the old one's no longer applicable. Dealt with that.

Moving on. Can the launcher be tweaked to continue an interrupted download? At this moment, my launcher wants to do 224_to_225.zip. I made one attempt last night, got 80% done, then the dl froze through the launcher. I closed the launcher and re-opened to get the message "Failed to update: Patch files already exist!" I had to delete the dl that was nearly done to get it to attempt again. So i started it when i got up again this morning. Might've been 15-20% through, when it told me it failed to verify signature or something, not sure of the exact message just going off memory. So at the moment, i'm manually patching through the guide available here, hoping i'm doing it right.

It would just be more convenient to simply open the exe and update, and if something happens knowing that it will just resume where it left off. I don't know how feasible this is for the launcher, just that the thought is nice. Especially for people whose net goes out regularly, or just having a bad day.

Old pc died around the time you posted so i didn't answer sooner.
Far as i know, no these translations aren't server side. Least they weren't at the time i released this, as i was testing the mod personally, fixing and updating as i found things in game that weren't quite correct.

Was digging around in an old image hosting site that i'd used, found an image from early tarlach days, before alexina existed. This was labeled 8/23/2008, and was my oldest image of mabi. So i'm guessing i started just a little before then.

Found out i had images on photobucket from about 8 years or so ago. Was deleting that particular account, so pulled images i wanted and set the account to delete. Compiled images from then up to now, that i haven't lost, and just throwing up some of the stuff from over the years.

The human images are from tarlach, back in 2008 when i first started, quit after a bit since you were heavily restricted on free gameplay. Giant was alexina, started shortly before Cor region was released i believe. Officially retired now though.

The issue isn't solely in what the player is capable of. Example, i like guns in Live, even without reforges and enchants. They're not the most OP thing ever, but good at dealing with trash mobs. However, even their short stun time can still be abused in high end, in groups, against even some of the scariest enemies.

The issue lies in that the players get constantly buffed, while the existing content is BARELY tweaked at all. There are plenty of things in mabinogi's live that has potential, or that could be tweaked to be made better balanced with the rest of the game, but nexon doesn't care and players enjoy being overpowered anyway, so nothing is ever done.

Take sharp mind's removal in live, and look at things like goblins, or red town rats in ciar adv. They will load smash, then WALK to you rather than run. It's because the player isn't supposed to see their skill like 80% of the time, so this is a valid strategy. If you pay attention to their skill load time, you'll know what they're doing even though you can't see the skill. Otherwise, you'd want to do N+bolt or counter, so whether they do defend or smash either one you won't be too heavily punished.

I'd honestly be fine with dynamic combat, but i'd definitely expect an AI re-balance to go with it. I feel it a necessity for the mobs to appropriately keep up with the players without sucking the fun out of it.

Desert regions
After reading that, the zombie event in iria desert immediately came to mind for a location. Assuming this were done i think that'd be an excellent start point. Just scatter camps throughout the desert, players can join and spawn in camps.

As for the honest method of control and flow of combat, i'd be interested in hearing more on that. Example, ignoring the difficulty to implement this and just throwing it out, players home base being the side of desert closest to rano. Progress away, to the north side of desert. Players don't just make an instance, but rather it's an ongoing fight, as long as there's a player in the area, maybe with a time limit to reset the area.

As you progress density of mobs increases, strength increases, rewards increase. And intentionally put groups of mobs together that are meant to be mean and multi. Shadow wiz is a good example of a mix, with varying types of mobs. That's just an example though, expanding it further would be interesting.

I'll stop there though, i could ramble on about what i'd like to see, but that's plenty for getting a general grasp of my train of thought i think.

Do note that the Fomors have no influence in Iria.

I may have to brush up on my lore a bit if you want a solid reason. Other than a few of the characters, not sure i know much of the lore past g3 honestly.

Abyss is reworked as Astral, i think was the name, for private servers. Tiara would have incompatible xml files, basically get rid of those and i'd expect maybe 5% of files remaining, or less, that may cause major issues.

Satori has also released a compilation of mods, if you want to look into it. Literally called Satori's Mod G13.

Had an image that had more stuff in it than i liked, so removed that.
Does the cooking contest exist on this server? Since you need to have 3 channels originally?

well, i went emain, tried to get ptj from shena between 7am-11am, multiple attempts in that time. She wouldn't give me any job. Novice cooking, don't know that that matters though. May try to have one other person, at least, try to confirm, and send a bug report.

Fraid there's not much i can do with that. It doesn't look like private messages work on this site yet, and not sure the releaser of it even checks in semi-often. Most i can advise, is checking astral's log, which i think is in mabi pro's installation directory, where astral should be located, and possibly check my documents for mabi pro, for the error logs. See if you can review the logs and reason anything out. That really is the only advice i know to offer at the time being.

While the thought is nice, i gotta be entirely honest. Nexon's done these type of events enough, it's wash and dry to me. Even though i don't have much, even if something decent is offered, i would have to get something practically gamebreaking to bother with these mini-games. If you enjoy these things, have fun. I'll stick with killing fomors and such in the mean time.

Voight in Cor is only method to appraise, restore, and exchange artifacts. Technically i think you can also npc artifacts for the rewards as well. An option to appraise, restore, or exchange all artifacts in your inventory in one go, rather than doing them one by one, would be a huge time saver. Nothing else need be said.
