I'd like to start this thread by saying I completely understand playing on this server is a privilege. I appreciate the people who have donated to keep it alive and the diligent staff that work hard to make the server function and to moderate as necessary. I do not claim to know how to run a private server or to have the answers for the questions I have voiced in this post.

That being said, I'd like to bring up the topic of server stability. I'll start off by stating that I was one of the people who did play around on the MabiPro Beta, as well as at the launch of the server. Thinking back, I don't remember any stability issues with the server at that time, at least out of the norm (this could be my memory failing me if there were concerns at this point in time). Jump ahead to over a year later and we're having nodes crash daily and pet lag... why is this? I brought it up in the Discord and was given the information that it was due to "more accounts, pets, and active players." As of right now when I am typing up this post I show 50 players online with a peak of 237. I recognize this is a substantial increase (at least at peak), but is that why the server has been so unstable, or is it due to the fact that there are so many accounts and pets now registered to the server? Is that something that can even affect stability? Has server hosting changed since launch to something a bit more unreliable?

I hope this post isn't seen as a criticism towards the server. I'd mostly like to gain an understanding of why this is the way it is and if there's anything that can be done by the player base to help improve stability.

You dare have constructive criticism of MabiPro's servers? HOW DARE YOU, REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

In all seriousness literally anything can cause instability, just look at lives status, the whole thing is a mess. The more likely reason I would think is the influx of new places, players, and more and more pets for the server to keep track of. That and hardware can just quit for no apparent reason- due to some bug in the code that rarely ever shows itself, or the hardware itself going bad.

To start out, the amount of pets/characters does not affect server stability.
When we first started, we had a lot more money and less resource demand.

MabiPro is severely under budgeted and in debt.
Our hosting has changed in favor of cheaper hosting due to lack of funding. This is the primary reason that the server is unstable, and we cannot afford to do anything about it.

Whenever the issue of the server's funding comes up, a common line is that people would like to donate, but they are disincentivized because they see donating in bitcoin as a barrier. I know it's been said amazon coins/giftcards are an alternative, but what other means might there be that would allow people to donate? Otherwise, maybe it would be beneficial to teach people how to donate in bitcoin or educate them about bitcoin so that they are not as hesitant. Why is it so necessary for bitcoin to be the main/sole method for donating?

Getting bitcoin to donate is actually insanely easy, it's the smaller or less known coins that're harder. Coinbase is the easiest way to do it-make account, wire bank acc and wait a week after buying for transaction to go through. Now, I'm not exactly sure why they don't just accept paypal or something, since that's much faster and not prone to major jumps and crashes like bitcoin goes through on an hourly basis.

There should be a donate page on the navbar between SUPPORT and NEWS with a guide on how to do that then, crypto currency is still a very new thing to the masses. Donations generally need a level of incentive even if purely cosmetic or vanity status and there needs to be a level of advertisement for the server possibly on private server aggregation sites like gtop100 and a vote to receive cash shop points for obtaining cs items to get more players towards the server which will mean more donations.

GTop100 wouldnt work out very well considering there is only 1 Mabinogi private server to begin with haha

I haven't checked if this was a way since I'm at work and don't have much time to surf the site RN, but would PayPal or a Patreon be a good option? Most everyone knows how to use those, so it wouldn't be a stretch.
