Can we get the timer removed so it doesn't disappear after 15 seconds?

I'm sure many magics will agree this was a welcome change in live when they did it.

This is client side, or at least was at some point. I've seen mods that do this. Not sure if it's possible in this version of the game or not though, or how the GMs would feel about this type of "grey area" mod.

Can't get the image to crop, so you may have to click the link above it. fixed -drahan

I asked about no LB timeout in a ticket, that's the ticket. I did blur a bit of it, because i asked about another mod which is not allowed, and there's no reason real reason to discuss it.

Basically, when it comes to modding, think of it this way. Is it game breaking? If it has more of an impact on another's gameplay, than say your mimic reveal, dungeon fog removal, or even exploration maps, then don't do it. If you think it's a grey area, well just ask away. Overall point i think, is just play nice with others, don't upset game balance.

Well the Mod Pack I currently use (Astral) doesn't have it, and I can't seem to make any others work, so as per it being a suggestion, I asked if maybe we could get the timeout timer removed off of it, since it is a mod already, shouldn't be too hard.

Agree, but I think its because "Lore" wise, if we can call it that, Lightning is a unstable element? Idk, I wouldn't mind!
Not that I have time to play now.

Astral is a dll edit. LB timeout was never a dll edit, it's a data folder edit. If you're gonna state stuff about mods, might wanna research what you're using, at the very least. Personally, i wouldn't define a dll edit as a mod pack. Injector, hacking, dll mod, but not a mod pack.

I personally don't see any reason to waste time making this a mod, on the same note not a whole lot of reason not to i guess, it's literally 10 seconds after an update to the related file, to update it yourself. It's fast and simple to do.

There's no need for behavior that looks down on other users with such negative language. Not everyone has a ton of experience with modding. If you don't want to do it, tell people how to do it or feel free to stay out of it. This attitude has *always* been a problem with modding, I feel.

Some people, myself not included, also have a moral compass about using mods. Granted that same moral compass also includes private servers probably. But point being not everyone knows how to mod or understands modding/hacking concepts, as marusa said, so therefore a request/suggestion for a SERVER change instead of individual change can be suggested.

People getting mad at me, i did write a guide for checking and updating mods. Not LB specifically, but dungeon defog. I shared how to check and make sure it's up to date every time the game itself updates. This is important, because LB will work the same way. If you want to refresh on the guide, see here:
http://mabinogi.ir/thread/151-modding-start-dungeon-defog-big-images

If you want your LB timeout, just open the most recent .pack file, and if it doesn't have the file then work your way back in the pack files, biggest numbers to smallest, and hunt for data/db/skill/skillinfo.xml.
Now search for Lightningbolt
There will be a string of text, it's all one line unless you have wordwrap on, before and after the lightningbolt. Most of this is not important, you only want to keep it from timing out. Within the line for lightningbolt, don't change lines as the other lines will only affect a different skill, look for StackLimitTime="15".
Change the 15 into 0. IMPORTANT! Do not remove the quotes, do not change the wording, do not add spaces or any other characters. Only change the number value and absolutely nothing else. Failure to follow this rule, could very well crash your game.

That's it, you're done. Make sure the file is where it belongs, with the proper spelling, in data/db/skill/skillinfo.xml. The game itself will read the file, you don't need a third party program or anything to make it work.

Moving on from the help. People are getting frustrated with me, but you should be aware it's equally frustrating seeing these types of responses. I offered help previously, by making the guide i linked. And i also said, and i quote:

So yes, i may have been rude, but i intentionally tried to avoid actual insults. I have little patience on this matter, as people have no problem asking for help, but they don't want to help themself. If you make a little bit of effort on your own, and are willing to communicate, rather than begging and making someone else out to be the bad guy, you'd get a lot more of what you want. As you can see from this post and my linked one, i have no problem helping or explaining. Refusal to read anything and choosing to take offense because i'm not babying you, feeling privileged enough to ignore the bulk of the content, is all on you, and does not reflect as poorly on me as you seem to think it does. You want to know something, you want help? Take people up on their offers when they actually volunteer to try to help you, and read/listen to what they say, rather than trying to vilify them.

All said and done, doesn't mean i'm around 24/7 and waiting hand and foot for help requests. So you may have to wait on someone else, or hope someone else can provide you with a response you're able to understand well enough to apply at least.

And I'm saying there is no reason to turn away a suggestion by saying "do it yourself"

I honestly don't have the energy to list the several ways that post was responding to a straw man that doesn't exist, rather than to what I actually said - in response to the single post I was replying to, not to your entire posting career. However, the tips are very helpful, thank you.

I never said that this feature should never be implemented on the grounds that it is easily reproducible as a mod.

I personally don't see any reason to waste time making this a mod, on the same note not a whole lot of reason not to i guess, it's literally 10 seconds after an update to the related file, to update it yourself. It's fast and simple to do.

I stated that i do not desire it to be done, because it's so simple to do. Then after more complaints i proceeded to detail how to make the mod. Yes, i am allowed my own opinion. If the feature comes around, then that's the way it is. Doesn't affect me really. It's just my personal preference that time be prioritized elsewhere.

Seems that despite me offering advice or help though, my opinion being different makes me a bad guy. This is also why a lot of modders write guides or refer you to somewhere else, before helping though. Easier to provide the materials, and if you won't help yourself, well c'est la vie for you.

Up to the devs really...the whole reason LB disappears is due to the effect that barely anyone uses, that multiple people having LB charged nearby will add all their charges together without consuming them (except the person who actually casts the spell) , which can allow plain ol' LB to hit upwards of I think like 20 targets (or 1 guy spamming 1 charge LB able to pop off 6+ charge LBs for almost no mana), and can be spammed under chain-casting. The 15 sec limit forces the "batterys" to recast their stacks periodically so that it isn't completely free bonus damage.

you could even have 1 high level mage and several melee with rF LB guys add charges, and it would cast at the full value for the high level mage when he cast.
