I have the same problem, it's hit or miss for me, though. I think a restart will fix it? I'm not entirely sure, but it's really annoying.

Same here. Freshly installed full client, the launcher is checking for updates (nothing happens) and I launch the game. After logging in it says cannot reach server. Halp! The intro made me want to play so badly

Ok so what helped me was to simply run as administrator. Then the launcher updated the client and everything runs smoothly - just in case it'll help someone
