Hi!

I'm looking for a game to duo with a friend of mine, but he's been having trouble getting MMOs to work. So I looked up this private server and I'm considering it, but I have a few questions.

1) My friend lives in southern Africa. Most MMOs block his IP and he can't get a VPN to work on the Nexon launcher. q.q Does this version of the game block IPs?

2) Do we need the base game or is Pro completely standalone?

3) I saw in Tech FAQ that the 2nd quest was hard to understand because of Japanese. I thought this game was initially Korean but this was based on the English version... Are you saying that this version is based on the Japanese version?

4) This game supposedly goes up to G13, but I thought the whole point was to just be pre-Genesis. Is there a reason why the game doesn't get updated further?

5) You said you add some additional features. Does this include fan requests like Scythe Mastery, flying in Uladh, and giving Elves/Giants all the weapon styles?

6) Is the lag super bad? With that said, the "Loading" version of skills (pre-Gen) is more lag-friendly than the "Cooldown" version (Gen), right? So would lag be a problem?

7) I haven't played Mabi in years and I never got used to the whole blacksmithing deal with refining and everything. Can you give me a short tutorial on using functions like that (fishing, cooking, etc)?

8) Does this version automatically have useful features that mods normally provide, like a way to see CP, Skill CP, etc without having to use mods? I'm playing Vindi right now and its current anti-hack detects any mods used on any games, so I can't use any for this one.

Hello Rezi, and thank you for trying out MabiPro
We hope you have a wonderful experience here.

Here are the answers to your questions.

1)There is no IP restriction in MabiPro, everyone is welcome to play and try it out.

2)You will need the MabiPro client to log in to our server.

3)The server files that was leaked was based on a Japanese production computer. English files was not found. So a majority of the NPCs and Quests are in Japanese. However we are looking forward for people translating for us.

4)It does not get updated any further because NXJP has patched the issue that caused the leak back in 2010.

5)Additional Features is what we can certainly edit and add to the game. If we cant' do it then it's most likely because it's a hard coded feature, however this does not limit us to adding in custom content. We're able to add items, create custom dungeons/shadow missions, create custom events and NPCs. Just recently I added an item that you can equip on the accessory slot that plays any special effects in the game. My favorite item is tamed special effect, where the orange swirl runs around your head. These items will soon to be released in the Fall Season Gachapon, which I am certainly working at implementing

6)It is true that the Pre-Gen is more lag-friendly then the Gen. However if you do experience bad latency we have 3 nodes that you can connect for each channel. To connect to a new node just simply change channels.
If you want to determine your latency. I highly recommend you ping the domain login.mabi.pro manually via the Command Prompt

to do this, press WINDOWSKEY+R and type in cmd, you will see a black screen, then type ping login.mabi.pro
you'll want to look at the "time" string. Based on the value you get this is how your experience will be.

0~59ms = Excellent
60~199ms= Good, you may have a minor delay
200~399ms = Caution , you may have delays
400~600 and higher = Poor, heavy delays will occur.

7)If you see me in game, I can show you how that works. However don't be afraid to ask other people here too, we have a global chat that can intensively help you out as you progress further in the game.

8)We don't have CP mods or anything, but the creator of abyss did create a patcher for our version, you can see his work http://mabinogi.ir/thread/244-astral-patcher here.

To end my message, should you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to ask here!

2) So to clarify, we absolutely don't need the Nexon client at all, right?

3-4) Aw... So there's no way to get future content directly? Then is it even worth it to play G13 or just up to G12? Also, I know that the Mabi wiki has the script for those generations; you can use that for reference, though it's nowhere near complete. Is there any reason not to have someone play through Live to get the text?

5) Do you have the additional features I listed? (scythe mastery, flying in Uladh)

7) I'll take you up on that.

8) I know a patcher isn't the same as a mod...but you're sure the NX anti-hack won't detect it?

9) Any changes to Elf/Giant significant enough to know about, like weapons access and marriage?

10) Do you guys have an artist for NPCs? Would be nice if you had custom NPCs, too. xD

11) Can pets do main story? Are there world bosses? How useful is Exploration? What's the "main location" that everyone hangs out in?

12) Lastly, what's seen as the "endgame" for this version, and is there any particular order I should do Gens in (Humans and Elves/Giants)?

Thanks again! ^-^

We aren't Nexon, so you don't need the Nexon client.

No, there is not a way to get future content directly. We can implement stuff manually, but it takes time. We've already scraped most of what we can from the Mabinogi wiki for translation purposes, the wiki does not provide most of the NPC text. Grabbing the text from the Nexon server is not easy since you still have to know what text to replace it with.

Flying in Uladh isn't possible except in certain regions like Tara and Taillteann. There is no Scythe mastery.

We aren't Nexon, so we don't have Nexon's anticheat.

Elfs and Giants can be married.

We do have custom NPCs, and art for them. However, we have not created custom art. We have some very good artists in the community that could assist us in creating art, though!

Pets cannot do the main story. There is world bosses, the ones that existed in G13. Exploration is just as useful as it was back in G13. Most people hang out n Dunbarton.

G1, G2, G3, G7, G8, G9, G10, G11, G12, G13...really in their released order...You can do G13 first if you want to since it has no prerequisites except for completing beginner quests.

Just a note, you can ask these questions to people in our unofficial Community Discord Server instead of waiting for us to reply here. Asking the community is probably faster and more detailed!

I was saying that I also play Vindictus, so if a mod has been used for any game, Nexon's anti-cheat will detect it. That's why I wanted to make sure the patcher wouldn't be detected as a mod. I could be careful and make sure it's not running, but I think the new anti-cheat detects program use for 48 hours prior. If it's unknown, I'll just wait to play this until I'm done with Vindi.

So are G13 dungeons the endgame or something else?

Just want to throw in a thought that especially if you are Human and plan on doing G1-3, it may be worth considering you can also work on G9-12 as these become available concurrently and the latter will scale up in difficulty depending on your level! (The quests will become Intermediate at level 100, 300 for Advanced, and 1k for Hard!) They will appear in the "Alchemist" tab in your quest log.

G13 is a quest line friendly to any level range. "Endgame" differs for different players and their goals, but can probably be considered as Hardmode and Elite content in dungeons and missions. New content of this nature is being developed, as well.

Hope you enjoy MabiPro!!!!

Thank you.

I thought Genesis was the reason why it become level-dependent, but I guess that was Alch. In that case, how should I plan my training? Should I just grind super fast to level 200 per rebirth or limit my levels, and how does getting Rebirths work in this version?

You are able to rebirth every two weeks from the day your character was created/since your last rebirth. You are also able to reset your skills by talking to Duncan in Tir Chonail. However the resets only last until you reach Total Level 100. This applies to every character on your account as well. Once one character on your account reaches TL100 then you will be unable to reset. Many players rank their skills and reset repeatedly before going past TL100 so that they can just gain AP later on and rerank. Play as you want to. Don't grind so hard that you get burnt out, but if you find grinding fun then go ahead. Mabinogi has no real endgame unless you choose to make one for yourself.

In this version we have Destinies: Warrior/Archer/Alchemist/Mage - You can only gain a Destiny by Rebirthing so don't go too crazy on your first character creation. Destinies give you 2x EXP to training certain skills and that stacks with the 2x Server EXP rate giving you 4x EXP on some skills.

If you want to be efficient, I suggest creating your character, prof and upgrade equipment while trying to stay at a lower level, and work on some Life Skills until you rebirth and gain a Destiny (sadly there is no Life Skill Destiny). From there just Rank as many skills as you want to while resetting since you'll still be under TL100.

What's the point of resetting skills? Doesn't that just decrease CP?

"prof" euipment?

What's the best way to stay at low level? Just grind and not do quests?

Oh, is there a way to change resolution before starting the game? I don't see a config file.

Prof equipment means to get proficiency on your equipment. Proficiency is used to upgrade your equipment. You can get proficiency on equipment by just using it.

It is recommended to reset skills at the start, because you get your skills ranked to rE when you start out. If you derank them to rF, you get ALL ap back to upgrade them to rE, which you can then utilise to more quickly advance your character. Furthermore, windmill, one of the best early game melee skills, is much much easier to train with lower CP. So resetting your skills and keeping them at rF while training windmill is recommended.

Also, to answer your question about ''endgame'', I think most people would assume stuff like peaca intermediate, peaca basic/normal, and some of the harder SMs on elite (Sulfur spider, shadow wizard, rescue the scout, tailteann defensive battle etc.) to be the endgame we currently have.

1. I think I'll start as an Elf, but my friend is thinking of starting as a Human. I know Humans get the CC quests in Dunbarton, do Elves get tutorial quests like that?

2. Is there any reason to reset after the first time? Do they auto-rank to E on their own?

3. Also, I know I should get Refine done ASAP. Can I just do Refine first before anything else?

4. I'll focus on Weaving after refine for the Dex because I'm going archer. Any tips?

5. Can G7 be done by a Human without doing G1-3?

6. If he happened to choose Giant instead, we would be able to party together in Courcle, right? Is there a way to disable PvP between E and G just in case?

7. I heard that resetting lets you just use AP on the resetted skills without having to train them again. So if I, say, ranked Windmill to 1 and resetted, I wouldn't have to train it again?

8. Which is the best bow in the game right now, and should I focus on using Elven Short Bow? When I make my own through carpentry, will it have better base stats, and when should I make it a spirit weapon - or should I use a different bow for that?

9. Other than Windmill, Counter, and Critical, any other CC skills I'll need as a pure Archer?

10. I might actually use Alchemy as a secondary for things like barrier spikes and golem. Should I put it completely on the backburner until I finish Archery?

11. Again, any Config file or is changing the graphics only possible in-game?

1. not sure myself how it works for different races.

2. after reset, you get all progression for all ranks up to the rank you were at before. So if you were rF prod mastery and r4 refining, you can do your r4 refine fails, then rank prod mastery to r1, do your successes and derank everything at r3 refining again, so you can do your fails. Just beware, you lose any xp progression to the next rank.

3. Yes, usually ppl get ores through metallurgy, and rank refine. after your first RB, you can choose a destiny (no destiny for lifeskills, remb that) that gives double xp to the combat skills of whatever destiny you choose. If you want to rank refine/WM at the start, i recommend ranking refine in the first 2 weeks, and WM after choosing warrior destiny.

4. do all thin/thick thread requirements, and leather strap requirements... besides that i heard its good to do the silks after? i'm not a weaver, just going by hearsay.

5. pretty sure they can, although i recommend focussing on g9-12 instead for demigod, brionac etc. Sidenote: g1-3 can be skipped, you get the transes, no titles/enchant scrolls though.
second sidenote: our version doesnt give AP for g1

6. PvP between G and E is off by default im pretty sure, if not, you can turn it off in options.

7. yes, but you do lose progression to next rank

8. if good ping and high ranged, i believe that fast shooting bows that have high crit are pretty good, although i dont know how it is later on when you start crashshotting/magnum spamming. Best bow IG right now is wingbow ego, and HLBs i think as normal bows. we can also ego HLB on this server even though we are g13 files. Beginners usually go for ego ringbow though since it is an easy solid choice.

9. personally i don't think counter is really needed when you have windmill r1, but opinions may vary. combat mastery might become a bit usefull for HP and to activate certain enchants (for example hard peaca 6 min dmg bonus).

10. golems actually have a pretty good curve in terms of powerspike, they become very strong very quickly due to their OP windmill power, but fall off later on since they dont scale with anything (no enchants, no stats etc.). even keeping the no scaling in mind, i haven't seen many people so far that i'd consider stronger than an alchemist his snow golem that has r1 golem, r1 clay alchemy and r1 alchemy mastery.

If you do decide to go archery first then yes, most likely golem on backburner

11. not sure, not a tech guy myself.

I also recommend reading ausar's mabi pro guide somewhere in the guide section, he gives a lot of valuable information for this server.

Welcome to the server! Just to add onto your first question elves do have tutorial quests in Filia yes. They also follow the old Falcon transformation story line as opposed to doing g1/g2 like live mabi.
