I had been playing Mabinogi since the first few minutes of Mabinogi Europe's closed beta opening, and never looked back ever since that moment, until Mabinogi EU closed its doors and Mabinogi North America whitelisted European players. Even though I had to start over I played often and made steady progress in Mabinogi NA, until around generation 19 where I simply quickly started losing interest. Funny thing is now that I think about it, I think the final nail in the coffin for me was the Girgashiy, it was in my opinion the perfect example of what Mabinogi had become, it was a signal of what to expect from future generations and content in general. As time went on I played less and less, I took longer and longer breaks, the people I used to know had long since left, and every time I would meet someone new they would simply stop playing or take long breaks themselves, that in return had left me alone in Mabinogi NA for years, in the end nobody would really run any dungeons, nearly no one was training anymore, and getting any sort of help was really hard. Plenty of people online but no one was playing the game the way it was meant to be played, most of them were just standing there looking pretty and shiny chatting, Mabinogi had turned into what can only be described as a social hub, like Second Life or Habbo Hotel. |
